The Failures

thefailures.jpg

I read in Fortune magazine
inspiring stories of the
ambitious and
well dressed

Those who have
succeeded in life
through careful planning
sheer will
raw guts
and
good shoes

The people in these stories
tell me that
I can have the same kind
of success
by employing their tactics

This may be true

But I often wonder
about those
just as talented
just as driven
who have utterly failed
in their chosen profession

Those who will
never make the cover
of Fortune magazine
or have a forum in which
to give me valuable advice

I’d be willing to bet
that those stories
though bloody
are just as inspiring
and maybe even a bit more
interesting

Great, insightful piece! Thank you. But I wouldn’t call it failure if one doesn’t make the cover of Fortune. These days, some of those cover stars are going to jail! :)

I wouldn’t either… but it certainly seems to be the pinnacle. Nice one Tara, on the “cover stars”.

Actually, The Failure Review might set a better example for our young entrepreneurs…

OK Clark, cough it up. You’ve peaked my interest…

    Hi,
    A very contemporary writing..and thoughtful one…
I would like to tell you one thing One never fails..one falls forward to rise up again and reach the goal..so without failures no one really reaches the cover page of the fortune mag..and those who call themselves failures are just not rising once more…

    Sorry for the unrelated comment;

I am looking for writers’ opinions about blogging and the growing social input and collaboration that the web allows. There are a few initial questions in the blog post but any input would be great.

Please pass this on to anyone that you think might be interested.

    - thanks for your time.

[...] I’ve failed countless times, and I’ve always learned more from the misses than I have from the successes. Robert Bruce says in perfectly in verse. [...]

I think I might find the failure review more interesting, but I bet the failures wouldn’t sign off on their stories.

Abhay, I agree… but suppose the interest lies not in that you get up but who picks you up.

Ah, its Tuesday… I’ll give it a rest. Thanks for coming around.

Liz, thats when we send you in, to procure the sigs… in fact, I think we’ll call you “The Kingpin” from now on. Hey, that kind of works… we need Char over here to approve.

My nickname for Brian Clark apparently didn’t stick, “The Closer”. I don’t know what the problem is, works for me. Maybe if I just keep using it…

I don’t know how this stuff goes down.

Followed you over from pb’s blog.
Nice place you got here :¬)

    Glad you’re here Cailleach.

Yep, a nice little conversation David fired up over there… funny thing is, none of us will know the real impact of this stuff for years to come.

For those wondering what we’re talking about, you can read this if you’re interested.
